This notice appeared in the May 18, 1898 issue of the Kinston Free Press newspaper,
“Mr. Chas. Harvey, who went to Raleigh to attend Ensign Worth Bagley’s funeral, returned Thursday.”
So, I decided to look up the Ensign. Google retrieved many items about him, including a Wikipedia entry. Apparently, he was the only Naval officer killed during the Spanish-American War. He died May 11, 1898. I wonder if Mr. Chas. Harvey served with him?
